I currently have a two year-old silky terrier/shih tzu male who weighs 10 lbs. He’s very sweet, but he does love to play rough sometimes (ex: he likes to roll/tumble with the cat). I would love to get him a canine “sibling”, and I’m drawn to the maltese as a breed, but I hear they are very, very fragile. Is it safe to introduce this breed into a small dog (and cat) household? (PS–my cat would likely ignore the new pup).

I have two cats, and I love them to death, but they pee everywhere.
They didn’t do it at our old apartment, and in our new apartment, the carpets have been steam cleaned twice and the previous owners did not have cats, nor did the people before them.
They have been fixed, and I clean their cat box regularly. I have no idea what is wrong!!
An ex-friend told me that they have these things that are like Glade plug-ins that spread pleasing pheromones (sp?) that keep the cats from peeing, but I don’t know what they’re called. Does anyone else?
We haven’t been able to set up a second litter box because there just isn’t enough room here. Rubbing their noses in it doesn’t help, and I am at my wits end!! I don’t want to get rid of my cats, but I don’t know what to do if they don’t stop!!
I called it “new”, but we have been in this apartment–with the cats–for over a year.

A Danish couple told me that it is a happy, age-old custom across Denmark to put a living black cat in a sealed barrel, suspend it from a tree at a party, and then pound it with a baseball bat. They said little Danish children love this tradition, and everyone cheers when the cat screams inside the barrel when it is hit. It’s like a gory pinata; the first person to knock the bloody cat out of the barrel would be the “queen” for the day and the person who knocked the last board would be “king” for the day. These looked like regular people and they are educated, but were they telling the truth? I was horrified!! I told them it would be a crime in the USA –but they didn’t understand why. They couldn’t understand why I was horrified, either.

Nextdoors pregnant cat had her kittens and brought them over.. most had escaped but i fell in love with the last one that was left here, its fully black and about 4 -8 weeks old and has been here during this month… is it bad luck for me to keep her/him?

We had a cat but it died at about 15 years old and we decided its time for a new kitty.actually unless it was raised with a dog, we need a kitten because we have a small dog and a cat might be scared but a kitted could adapt, hes a very friendly dog and we have no small children but our 13 year old really wants a black cat. We dont want a really old one because we want a long term family member. there is always someone at home and this little kitty would have planty of love. THanks!
